Tee Jay’s Corner Cafe sits unassumingly inside Cactus Jacks Casino on North Carson Street, blending an unexpected mix of Indonesian, American, and Chinese dishes under one roof. The setup is casual—a lunch counter vibe rather than a formal dining room—which shapes how you experience the food and atmosphere here.

What stands out most are the Indonesian offerings, a rarity in Carson City. Dishes like Comstock Chop Suey, Rendang, and Nasi Goreng Tahu Goreng bring bold, savory flavors that you wouldn't expect tucked away inside a casino. The kitchen balances these with more familiar American staples such as burgers and breakfast burritos, catering both to local regulars and tourists seeking comfort food alongside something more adventurous.

The atmosphere is a mixed bag. Being inside an active casino, cigarette smoke can drift over, which might be a drawback if you're sensitive to it. However, many locals mention that ordering takeout is a good workaround, especially for those wanting to escape the smoky environment but still enjoy the food. The staff tends to be friendly and approachable, often willing to explain dishes and ingredients—helpful for newcomers to Indonesian cuisine or for those who prefer milder spice levels.

Tee Jay’s corner seems to attract a diverse crowd: folks passing through Carson City, visitors heading to Lake Tahoe, and locals who appreciate the blend of flavors and casual service. Given that this spot is open throughout the day, it works for a range of visits—from a quick lunch after exploring downtown to a relaxed meal between casino games.

In short, Tee Jay’s Corner Cafe is a practical choice for those curious about Indonesian food without leaving town or those who want a no-fuss meal with a mix of Asian and American comfort dishes. Just be prepared for the casino ambiance, and consider timing your visit outside peak smoking hours or opting for takeout if that’s a concern.

You would never guess it but quite literally, some of the best food you can get anywhere can be found at this little lunch counter of a diner inside Cactus Jacks! While they serve up all kinds of foods ranging from burgers to burritos, what I would say is their specialty, is their amazing Indonesian dishes. Being that there's only about 50 Indonesian restaurants in the entire United States of American, I'm sure a lot of you won't know what it is and what I can tell you is that it's a lot like Thai food but oh so much better. Tee Jay is an outstanding chef that is super nice, polite, courteous and a lot of fun to talk to as well. Whenever my wife and I come, she typically likes to have the Pad Thai and I have the pineapple friend rice with chicken (spicy of course) but I've also had their drunken noodles and other dishes and can say they are all very fresh and cooked perfectly. As a pro tip, I would highly recommend you order up a Thai iced tea to complete your dining experience. As mentioned, this is a lunch counter like establishment and so seating is limited but Tee Jay and patrons at the counter are always nice enough to move around as needed to help accommodate more guests. Of course, being that this restaurant is located in a casino, there is a bar next door that you can order adult beverages and there are plenty of gaming machines to play on if that's your thing. Parking is also plentiful on the street and in the lot across the street. If there is one down side to this delicious diner, it's that their hours are limited so be sure to check them before stopping in and really, this is a must stop whether you're a local or just passing through town. I really can't say enough good things about this place - YUM!!! UPDATE! Just had their fried banana for desert for the first time and all I can say is WOW!! This is a super tasty must order

Was passing through Carson City and this got recommended. Absolutely delicious I had the phad thai with chicken. Only downside is the cigarette smoke from the casino, but if you can deal with that it's totally worth it, and if you can't get it to go!

Incredible flavors, comfortable atmosphere, and the best staff! We will come back to try everything on the menu! New favorite place in town! It was easy to try something new because they were eager to explain different ingredients without judgement for my lack of ability to handle spice

We were driving through Carson City when visiting Lake Tahoe, so we decided to stop for lunch. This spot is inside of a casino which was the only downside for me. Casinos don't bother me, but I don't love being around smoke. You can always get takeout though. My husband and I shared: - Indo Burrito - Krakatoa Cheese Steak - Fried Banana & Coconut Ice Cream The Krakatoa Cheese Steak is one of the best things I've eaten this year. It was a mess, but you won't care with how good it tastes. We also loved the burrito and would happily try anything else on the menu. I was sad that the fried bananas came covered in chocolate sauce (not listed on the menu) because I really don't like chocolate. I ate around it as much as I could and they were still amazing. This was hands down the best place we ate while in Tahoe. It's a bit of a drive, but I would do it just to eat here.

Some of the best burgers and patty melts in Carson City. Located inside Cactus Jacks Casino, yes, it might be a little smoky inside here, but hey, you're in Nevada! Friendly service and good food what more do you want! Besides all the usual American burgers and fries and sandwiches, they have Indonesian food, sort of like Thai food, but a little different. Other Asian food here to like chow fun and egg rolls. Do go for the clam chowder on Friday's, I'll bet you it'll be the best you ever had.

Thrilled I got to try such amazing Indonesian dishes! The crew was kind, attentive, and our meal arrived fast with interesting notes on its cultural roots. Portions were generous, and the sauces on the tray were rich, tasty, and quite unique. I’ll gladly return on my next visit to Carson City!

My friend recommended this place and decided to give it a try. There are only few places here and in Reno that serves a really good fried rice, this is one of them. I have also tried the street-style fried chicken and it reminded me of home. I will definitely go back to this place.

It’s inside the casino, so there may be cigarette smoke, but the staff are so friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. What a gem !
